Parrot Tulips and Staffordshire Dog

Painting this was a great pleasure to me. I love my lemony glass vase with its amber handle and it was a perfect container for the lovely violet parrot tulips. I used the faded kelim underneath to lend a little discipline with its geometric pattern, a foil to the flamboyant serpentine canopy of the foliage above. Then my little Staffordshire dog, proffering its hare, provided a splash of orange and a quirky play on scale.
