Roses and Onions

The geometry was a really important factor in this still life. The blousy heads of the old roses amidst their rampant foliage, coupled with the sappy energy of the shoots sprouting upwards from the golden round forms of the onions, would create a visual muddle if not harnessed by the structure of the painting.
